On May 2, 2022 Politico published a leaked draft of the Supreme Court majority decision in Dobbs V. Jackson that would ultimately result in the overturning of Roe V. Wade, removing the federal protection to the right right to abortion. The leak sparked outrage across the country and world, causing protests to erupt on a national day of action on May 3rd. Led largely by the organization Women’s March, which has been at the forefront of the movement since the 2017 National Women’s March on Washington where some 5 million protesters took to the streets across the country, hundreds of thousands of protesters took to the streets on May 14, 2022 demanding the protection of abortion rights. This was the beginning of what would be known as “The Summer of Rage.”

These photos were taken during the Austin, Texas, Women’s March chapter’s day of action on May 14, 2022. Dawning the color green, the international symbol for abortion and women’s rights started in the Argentina, activists marched through downtown Austin where they eventually stopped outside a convention center where Donald Trump was holding his own rally.
